Community Forklift is lifting up communitiesAt our home improvement store, we accept donations of surplus and salvaged building materials, and sell them at very low prices. We are a socially and environmentally responsible business, operated by the nonprofit Sustainable Community Initiatives. Our goals are to encourage community revitalization by making repairs more affordable for low-income folks, homeowners, small businesses, and nonprofits; to create local jobs and economic growth; and to keep reusable items out of the landfill and reduce demand for virgin material. We're no ordinary home improvement store, and this is no ordinary retail job! There is a lot of room for growth - you may assist in areas like public relations, database management, volunteer supervision, or website content. Hours and BenefitsDepending on your availability and mix of skills, this could be a full- or part-time position (this might be a good job for a college student or recent grad with an interest in sustainable business, or a retired person with experience in the building trades). Our work week is currently Tuesday - Saturday. Pay is commensurate with experience. You receive a 15% employee discount. We're 5 minutes from the DC line - easily accessible from I-295, Kenilworth Ave, and Route 1/Rhode Island Ave. It's within walking distance of several bus lines and bike paths.
