The Road is Closed: Alternative Directions

Driving Directions to Community Forklift from the WEST (central D.C.):

  1. Head east on :
    1. Irving/Michigan Avenue: about 1 mile past Catholic University, make a right turn onto South Dakota Avenue, heading south; take a left when you get to Rhode Island Avenue or
    2. Take Rhode Island Avenue
  2. Keep going about 1.25 miles on Rhode Island Avenue, after crossing Eastern Avenue into Maryland
  3. Continue around the traffic circle and drive down Rhode Island/Route one through Mt. Rainer, Brentwood into Hyattsville.
  4. When you get to Downtown Hyattsville, go past Franklins Restaurant and take the sharp right at the bridge to Alternative Route one/Baltimore Avenue.
  5. The light at the bottom of the bridge is Decatur Street. Take a left turn.
  6. Follow Decatur Street for about a half mile.
  7. Take a right on 51st Avenue.
  8. Go two blocks to Buchanan Street. Take a right.
  9. There is a sign indicating no thru traffic at that intersection—which doesn't apply to you -- follow the road about a 1/5 mile around the curve where it turns into Tanglewood
  10. We are the first warehouse on the left.

Driving directions from the Southwest (downtown D.C. or Arlington, Co., VA):

  1. Take New York Avenue (or I-395 north until it dead ends into New York Avenue) heading east
  2. Take a left on Bladensburg Road
  3. After 2.5 miles, you'll cross the Anacostia Rive and bear left on Baltimore Avenue (Alternate Route 1). If you find yourself on Annapolis Road, you have gone to far around the circle onto the wrong turn.
  4. Follow Baltimore Avenue ( go past Tanglewood Drive)about a mile to Decatur Street. Take a right turn on to Decatur.
  5. Follow Decatur Street for about a half mile.
  6. Take a right on 51st Avenue.
  7. Go two blocks to Buchanan Street. Take a right.

Driving directions from the SOUTH (S.E. D.C. or Capitol Heights, P.G. County or Eastern Fairfax County, VA)

  1. From Washington, D.C. (or the Beltway after Crossing East across the Wilson Bridge) take Hwy. I-295 North to the Kenilworth Avenue/201 exit (this exit is near the exit for route 50).
  2. Continue North on Kenilworth Avenue about three miles.
  3. Pass the Go Kart Track (on your left) and the take the next left onto Buchanan Street across from the Three Brothers Shopping Center. It is a well marked light with Public Storage on the corner.
  4. Go down Buchanan, which will curve to the left after about a ¼ mile. The street changes names then to Tanglewood Drive. We are the first warehouse on your left.

Driving directions from the NORTH (Montgomery or Northern Prince George’s County or Western Fairfax County, VA):

  1. From the Washington Beltway exit South at Exit 23, Kenilworth Avenue, also known as Highway 201.
  2. Cross East West Highway (Route 410) and continue another 1.2 miles to Buchanan Street.
  3. Turn right on Buchanan Street. If you pass the Go Kart Track, you've gone too far.
  4. Go down Buchanan, which will curve to the left after about a ¼ mile. The street changes names then to Tanglewood Drive. We are the first warehouse on your left.

Driving directions from the EAST (Eastern Prince George’s County or Annapolis, MD):

  1. From the Beltway heads west on either
    1. Hwy. 450 (Annapolis Road), or
    2. Hwy. 50 (John Hanson Highway), and exit to Highway 202 (Landover Road) and continue on Hwy 450, or
    3. Hwy. 202 (Landover Road) which merges with Highway 450
  2. Continue on Highway 450 (Annapolis Road)
  3. Cross Edmonston Road take the next right – immediately after the Three Captains nightclub. This will put you onto Kenilworth Avenue (Highway 201) heading north.
  4. Pass the Go Kart Track (on your left) and the take the next left onto Buchanan Street across from the Three Brothers Shopping Center. It is a well marked light with Public Storage on the corner.
  5. Go down Buchanan, which will curve to the left after about a ¼ mile. The street changes names then to Tanglewood Drive. We are the first warehouse on your left.

By Transit:

  1. Take the Metro Red line to the Rhode Island Avenue Station, and then catch an 84 or 85 Metro bus. The bus will run up Rhode Island Ave. then follow Bladensburg Road to Annapolis Road, and turn up Edmonston Road. Exit at the corner of Edmonston Road and Tilden St. (which becomes Upshur as it goes West) at the intersection with the Bladensburg Visitors Center & Town Hall.
  2. Walk one block to the West (left) to reach Kenilworth Ave. (Hwy 201), and then walk north (right) two long blocks (without sidewalks) to Buchanan Street. Walk left on Buchanan until it curves to the left & changes names into Tanglewood Drive. CF is the first large building around the corner to the left.
